I just hate thinking of titles

last day of the year...and this post is going to be boring...

looking back at 2005

how things have changed for me... and me myself have changed...6 months of aimless living and lotsa $$... school started... changes again... from listening to only chinese pop and some jpop... to a period of time where 80% of what i listen was jrock, X Japan, Naitomea, Luna Sea to name a few.. den came along Mars Volta, Dream Theater, Radiohead, Suede, Oasis, Tool, Pantera and more that i'm lazy to continue listing... my musical influence have changed drastically...

my playing... First off...drums... I believe have also improved in this short time of from May till December...if not technically, i believe that my maturity on the drums has...thanks to meeting a couple of excellent drummers in school...

Guitars... i think i also improved alot in this short 2nd half of the year... From only knowing how to strum a few chords...to know how to play a few jazz chords...a few movable chord forms...and now i can play simple riffs... and i also know how to tweak amps and some pedals now...as long as there are not too many knobs to play with..

Me as a person..i believe i have changed in this year...but i dun really know what..but well..it doesn't really matter...

Overall..i think 2005 has been a good year for me...now lets see what 2006 have to offer...

back from chalet... pretty much boring cept for the bbq and drinking... never gotten so high on alcohol before...just a bit more and i'm gone... but its cool.... it settled my lust for alcohol...so i guess i'm not gonna whack alcohol for the time being...

found out a few things in chalet and poked quite a bit of fun at a few pple... don't ask me to tell you next time cause i have already told all the people i wanted to tell it to...

school's reopening on the 3rd...end of holidays...

benita: yes...i'm gonna get us jamming real soon again!

my sister cooked too much speghetti...after eating 2 dinners of it..there's still a big pot left...amazing how 2 packets of speghetti actually is...

i'm kinda running out of stuff to listen to...maybe its time to get some cds...or maybe pple should send me stuff...

chalet tml...they tell me not to reach there before 5... i actually wonder how many pple are actually going tml... i can visualize myself crapping ard with arep and shao chong for the first night... but well...not too different from rotting at home...

Morning spent in church..den at home rot...

an idea came to my head... if benita and adam can play their respectives parts... if i just strum chords for the verse...is it possible to jam roulette dares?

den..using the chord shape for paranoid android...i came up with my own chord progression...sounds fun!!

had to reject a job offer....extremely good $$...playing drums...just that 6 nights a week and sets end 2+...too bad...hope some thurs fri sat night drum jobs come my way...haha!!

first jamming session with Dr Brain's tml...hope it goes well...got a chalet coming up too...

1. Have the discipline to practise my scales, rudiments,double pedalling,arpeggios..basically all the technical stuff.
2. Read bible everyday.

Went to watch the Overdrive competition at CLub MoMo... saw an insanely hot chic over there!! half the time i was looking at her...insane!!! yea...the band that won the competition deserved it...

youthwreck performed...their music is shiok la!! rifai...dam bloody friggin bastardly good guitarist...shred like drinking water!!!

went to s11 nearby for supper with bani esther and nic... haha...a man sitting at the table beside us... heard what we were talking about...and gave a good talk to bani about quitting smoking!! it was so funny...but i think he got into bani's head...and i think its a good thing...yea..quit smoking bani!!

i reek of cigarette....people in clubs smoke like drinking water... even though everyone was there to watch a competition....insane!!

Met up with old percussionists from nan hua!! Zif, Syaiful, Christina, Benita, Crystal. Though the feeling is quite different from the good old days we had, but yea..its great to see them again... and yea..girls grow hotter when they grow older...

FUCK THIS E-LEARNING WEEK!!!

this is the first time i've stayed up till 3am doing assignments!! I didn't do it during Os, I didn't do it during promos...why do i have to do it now!! okok..i did have a choice of going to sleep..but i was already doing work..why not just do more until u get sick of it... and midi took me quite some time to digest that stupid hexidecimal shit... ok...for friends that dunno how to do midi...just read the lecture slides on BB...and most probably you will figure it out...if you still don't know...ask someone to send u their file and den just change name and submit!!

okie...hope momo tml night would be good...off to sleep now.

my sis did something really stupid to the comp...so i lost quite alot of mp3s, DT falling into infinity is gone, most of my Jrock is gone! my mayday hokkien SONGS!!! GONE!!!!

anyway...bought the vox pathfinder 10! great amp for $90!!! my fear of it being too soft was unfounded! great cleans and not a bad overdrive sound...

marlin came back to singapore...played soccer ton with them...haha...been a while since i saw marlin and zhanli...

screw this e-learning week...so much more work to do than usual!!

woohoo!! my house finally has a DVD player!!! finally can watch the dave matthews dvd adam lent me.

I think i'm going to buy an amp first..before all the pedals come reining in! reason being i'm not going to jam everyweek as a guitarist..and i'm virtually not touching my dear pacifica at home...and citymusic and their sale is sell a vox 10watt amp for $90!! gonna go down on tuesday to see!! anyone wanna come with me?

The Tin Pan Alley song that adam sent me was playing as i was typing what was above... there's something about the vocalist's voice.... hearing it makes me think that she's a extremely sweet looking girl with big round eyes. The type that would melt your heart when you see her but have no sexual thoughts... but i think there's a 95% chance that she's nothing like what i have just described!

random thought: How do you make a 3-piece sound fuller?

went with nic to park lane to look at some pedals... tried the line6's dr distorto. for 140 bucks, i think its quite a good buy... something worth considering.

what in the world was a hot chick doing in guitar gallery??!!!! no she wasn't browsing the gears or flirting with the salesperson over there....she was the salesperson!!! the only person tending the shop at tt point of time!!! she's ard my age... who could she be?? daughter of the owner of guitar gallery? tt's my best bet... so maybe a couple of yrs down the road she can give the davis chick a run for her $$...

i'm suddenly into radiohead... suddenly i can listen to their songs over and over again, especially tracks like no surprises, creep, high and dry, karma police, my iron lung and paranoid android.

i wonder if anyone's going to drink at the chalet... if adam not going, den i think i can keep that barcardi money and use it to maybe buy some cheap pedals... chalet looks like its going be quite sad... i foresee bad attendance...well... but i guess i would be going at least for a night...just to show some form of support...

Watching Radiohead live makes me lust for teles!!!

JAMMING!!! SHIOK!! haha!!! First time wif my pacifica...first time with the new O.R.E!!! Today was one of the most relac jamming ever...keep talking cock...but still...i guess high and dry is more or less settled!! Some way to go for this band..but i guess i think we can make it!! Yea!!! This one's my main focus.

Pinch harmonics were off today..but aiya...dunno la..my guitaring got a long way to go...

Just found today that Creep and My Iron Lung got the same bass riff! The C D Eb F thingy!! Ok..not excactly the same note for note... but ALMOST!! Actually if i play excactly the same bass riff in the two songs...it'll fit in perfectly..and i think nobody can tell the difference. Anyway..back to radiohead...maybe its because Bass is not their strong points...but yea..they're hell of a great band!

Yea...tt's all for today!

1) Keep ur games at home... Indulging in lousy ass flash games during lesson time makes u seem immature. I'd rather u come to class intoxicated.
2) Dun make use of edwin's diligence...at least dun make him think you are leeching off him. ( I am guilty of this)

In addition
DMAT is a sad course... we don't know how to use the audio equipments and few of us can actually say that i have achieved something musically in the direction that u choose. I'm not saying that i have achieved something..no i haven't. So, we die in Music and we die in Audio Technology. How many of us are actually striving to improve as a musician? i think i can count with my fingers on 1 hand.

Oh ya...and about the DMMT so many of us hate(according to edwin's blog), i can already see better guitarists and a drummer better than many of us in there... sad sad sad... music students losing out to non-music students in music. a bit of a tongue twister..but yea... its a fact.

jammed today with nic and friends... well... i finally found out the problem of my double pedalling coordination...why somehow my left leg becomes the leading foot...shall not bother to explain it here...i know can liao!

Drums are real good exercise...i can feel my forearm working... legs too... so i guess if drummers work out their chests and abs in addition to playing drums...i think they should look real good. toned body tt is...not really beefy type..

Yea! O.R.E is gonna jam on monday!!! maiden jamming wif my pacifica!! wahaha!

later got soccer match at bukit timah...i hope i only haf to play for just abt 20mins or less...den go lunch den go home sleep! waha!

Christmas is coming! buy me an SD-1 for christmas!! And if u haf cool sounding distortion pedals in mind, buy it for me also!!

decided...we'll go 3 piece for now! easier to work things out... JUST is the word... JUST...

if i can play nice riffs and sing at the same time...i think i would be pretty cool if i could do that...okay...stop fantasizing....

Not going to school tomorrow... 1 hr lesson only...no point...assignments all done... maybe its time to memorize lyrics and practise abit for the jam.

Revamp needed for O.R.E. Shawn wants out of the band... but she agreed to jam wif us a bit more so that we can find somebody else... Benita is not online yet...so i can't discuss it with her atm..

Options currently are
1) Finding another frontman.
2) Find another guitarist or maybe a keyboardist and i'll front the band while playing simpler stuff on the guitar.
3) Continue as a 3 piece.

I gave serious thought to option 3. But after trying out just now singing and playing..i found out that i can only play chords and sing at the same time... so...unless i somehow can coordinate playing riffs and other stuff while singing, i dun think option 3 is viable.

Well...thats all the problems my brain can process at the moment.

I like Mayday alot.. Especially their hokkien songs!! Their new hokkien song " Mai Lai Luan" is another great 1. Call them gay rock, pop, pop rock, gay pop, emo, i dun care!

Guitar effects are really fun! Man..i want my effects loop! Played with adam's effects in school. dam shiok la! Big muff, Compressor, Delay, Phaser all so fun! almost could not put the guitar down! Yea..and i sorta have an idea of where to apply this effect to my playing.

Yea...added another pedal to my effects buying list. Phaser it is. So currently, my list includes Overdrive, Distortion, Chorus, Delay, Compressor, Reverb and Phaser.

Saw a tele in guitar connection... very steam for me.. Natural finish, Kinda beat up, Vintage tele pickups! STEAM!!

Played drums for a wedding in the day... pretty good deal, 3 songs for $50 and free food. Yea..the newlyweds are good pple cos they gave me more money in the ang pao den i expected.

Went home to relac and take a nap. Den went to watch observatory play at the lime event. 1st time watching and hearing the band. Must say they are a great band. Does stuff subtlely... hard to describe. Must say that to incoporate 3 guitars, bass, drums, keyboards and effects on the mac? into a piece of music is already quite incredible.

After that was the sushi gang outing. We welcomed jing jing back to singapore. Had supper at Newton. Took some pics.

I've sorted out on how i feel for a certain person. Funny how just meeting that person again after a long period of time does solves the problem.

I wanna jam wif my new pacifica wif O.R.E.!!!!! SD-1 1st hand is only $85!!

Now i can say... EVERYTHING has been going smoothly for me...

Now all i need is to buy a strap, cables and maybe a tuner.

Den its off to saving for pedals!! So far what i want is OD, Distortion, Chorus, Delay, Compressor, Reverb.

Fuck! i lost my earphones again! must haf left it in school. Dam sian! i think i'll buy 2 cheapo earphones and keep 1 permenantly in my bag and 1 at home.
