I just hate thinking of titles

New Year is far from over but my New Year programme has ended... too much bah kwa consumed in this short span of time... damn... i can't seem to stop eating them whenever they are available...grandma house, uncle's house, other grandma's house... at home!!

i don't have enough $$ to buy the phase90 and tide the month comfortably... so i have decisions to make yet again.
1. Just buy the phase90 and den see how it goes for the rest of the month
2. Buy a cheaper pedal, say a chorus or Overdrive.
3. Not buy any pedals and get as many Radiohead albums i can get my hands on.

I finally have some understanding of what the moeller technique is...at least where that whipping motion is concerned... now tt's a step forward.

I have a feeling the DMAT concert is gonna be kinda sub-standard...i foresee myself wasting time on wednesday's performance's class... so i guess i won't bring my guitar on wednesday. Back to the concert... not much time left...and so many other things to do...

Anyway... Happy Chinese New Year to all!

Jamming today was okay...abit to the sian side...but i guess its been a long day for everyone... but i thought that the dinner was fun... glad to see everyone clicking well...

I have new goals for drumming...
- jam more as a drummer
- master the moeller technique
- have some improvement in sticking techniques

New Year is coming...so is my new pedal!!!

mxr phase90 is what i'm gonna get after CNY....if nothing goes wrong!! wahahaha!!! its amazingly cheap at a certain shop...

i just learned that u dun need to unscrew the cover on the back of the guitar when you restring it... amazing stuff....

Rain spoiled half the day.... B-Quartet and Page had to share a set... first time see B-Quartet live... super good band... love their new songs....especially the 1st song...forgot the title... but is dam shiok... finally got my hands on their EP... anyway... they in a very very minor way make me think of radiohead...maybe because bani's bro was doing the thom yorke head shaking thing... or maybe not...

I like Page more live then in recordings... hahaha.... some nice songs there too...and dhalif...great shredder...and great tone from a squier and ds-1... his techniques really do make a whole of difference to the tone produced...

Yea...i am so inspired to jam now...gonna organize an O.R.E jam session real soon... if we can reach like 3/4 today's standard...den i think i very happy liao....

There's a talk in church tml about pornography and masturbation... wonder what i'm gonna hear...

jamming with Nic's band, Bleeding Grace, was okay... i quite like the new work they are working on...but its still not completed yet... and i still can't get the timing of certain parts of their 1st song... weird timings... its seems like they are not playing on time...but they all come in and end together...so there must be some form of timing which i need to catch...

I think i want to record O.R.E's jam session...or at least a song from it... maybe the next or a couple more jams den we record... den at least got something to send to gig organizers and hopefully we can have abit of gigs sometime soon...

I hope Benita or Adam has some sort of recording device to do that...cos i don't have 1...

Yellow is a terror to sing...now...do we not jam that song? play it in another key? i sing 1 octave lower?

Bani's gig at esplanade tml(technically later today)....looking forward to it...especially B-quartet's set... heard so much about them but never seen them play... oh ya... and Bani better return my guitar cos i dun wanna be telling my son next time..."Son..the great Bani Hidir used my guitar and pedal for his gig.....but never returned it to me!"

missed GEMs again...ahhhh!!...this time really cannot pon anymore liao...lucky there's only a few more left... i think 2 or 3 more. which reminds me...i gotta start thinking about the 40% weightage report!

midi test today was okay i guess...if i've studied more... i think i could have scored...but nevertheless..i think i can pass...

jammed jazzmatazzed metal songs...haha....had so much fun with it...

watched a large part of extreme drumming... damn...marco minnemann is a killer...how can someone play 16th notes on left hand, 8th notes on right foot, triplets on left foot and quintuplets(5 notes/beat) on right hand... damn...i'll be quite happy if i can play only what he's doing on his feet. His drumming aside...he's like the drummer version of paul gilbert...so retard, so stupid but yet so amazing on his instrument. No wonder he sessions for Paul Gilbert...i can see them clicking...

i feel i need to drum more....in a band context that is... other than Nic's band...which jams like once in a blue moon, i don't have a band i drum for... maybe i should start looking for 1. I feel like i'm losing my touch playing live... and i wanna play drums in a gig outside school!!!!!!

watched all my mars volta videos just now... i will always never fail to clap my hands at the end of Take the veil video....simply amazing stuff...

so the bands i'm currently really into now are The Mars Volta, Radiohead, Coldplay, Mayday.

cumed..i mean carmen was watching the dave weckl, steve gadd, vinnie colaiuta trio drum performed ages ago... haha... vinnie's kick drum never fails to amaze me...so fast, can play so long...single kick only... haha...his right leg dam strong...

Saw the Guo Mei Mei(the 1 that sang the chinese version of the chicken little song) ad on tv just now... she looks kinda cute... abit like Rong Zhu Er...

I think i should buy some cds...just to start my cd buying habit... maybe the last Mayday album...maybe Scab dates...maybe 1 of the Radiohead albums for a start...

Kinda heavy.....actually...its very heavy!!! but still not bad la...abit like the big muff..just less bassy..and abit less zhrrrrrr sound... guess i'll have to buy an overdrive pedal for my lighter stuffs... haha...slowly liao...maybe i'll get a TS-9... sounds damn shiok when i tried it at wakemeup just now... especially with the tele neck pickup...steamalogy!! but i guess tt'll be at least a couple of months from now..

Its gonna get busy again.... REMT, DVPT, MIDI and DMAT concert all coming up.... with the exception of maybe Midi, all of the assignments need to use the studio and that sucks...

DVPT - studio to record vocals and use it to video us recording and mixing the vocals.
REMT - studio used for everything related to the project, from recording, to mixing to bouncing to cd.
Concert - Practises. Other than Dr Brain tt group...i'm not worried about it.

well...guess its gonna get busier for me...

Today's a rather interesting day at school. Learnt a few things in school today.
1. Intertiatic E.S.P actually sounds nice done acoustically.
2. I have post performance shakes...yes..i literally shake after performing.
3. Eric Khoo is a great director
4. Ezann Lee is HOT!

Everytime after i write a song, i feel good about it, like its the best song i've ever did. Then after a couple of days i hear it again...and it doesn't feel so good anymore... well...maybe i'll just write a couple more and let the band decide what to jam... meanwhile, lets do more nice covers!!!! and i need to come up with better lyrics...

Jamming with O.R.E was fun... i think we more or less nailed High n Dry... Blind Man still needs some sorting out to do...and Yellow was a terror to sing... constantly changing between real voice and faceto...or however you spell it...

Jammed with bun in school... guess that group also halfway there already la... a few more practises and we should more or less settle the song... bringing it about as best as we can do...

tml is a public holiday... great...no need to wake up early...

yet another entry about gear...i guess its about the only thing i can talk about these days..

anyway...went with bun to buy his guitar... after trying out stuff in luther, g77 and music theme, he ended up with a uber sexy natural finish Godin guitar!!!!!! That guitar's a great buy man!!! Great value for the price ur paying... it even comes with a Godin bag which in my opinion is as good as the Warwick Rockbag... this really make me seriously consider buying a Godin for my next guitar, 2nd choice after tele...

Tried the OD-3...costs $130 bucks...more kena then the SD-1...but still not a first choice material...maybe i'll buy the route66...i dunno...

Monday is super jamming day... Performance class in school.... O.R.E jam after school... looking forward to it!

I suddenly have to learn lots of songs.... 3 songs with O.R.E...and 6 songs for the concert...but well...i'm not complaining...

My quest for the distortion/overdrive is still not completed.

Dr Distortion: Pretty nice but i feel not worth the price after the sale
DS-2: DS-1 is better and cheaper
Big Muff: Shiok but too heavy.
Route66: Shiok but out of budget
Jekyll & Hyde: Shiok but out of budget

went to wakemeup after school and tried these pedals
Catalinbread SuperchargedOD: Disappointment...sound clips too nice to what i heard in shop
Ibanez TS808: Shiokness but out of budget
MXR Distortion+: Not the thing i'm looking for, sounds too thin in my opinion.

I'm looking forward to trying the Proco Rat pedals... i hope they gif me a sound i want! Be it a heavier sorta sound i'm looking for or a lighter one. I think i'll end up with 2 distortion/overdrive pedals, 1 for lighter stuff, 1 for heavy.

I just realised i don't know what the "twang" is. I used a strat and a les paul to test pedals today... Yes, i can tell the difference from a single coil and a humbucker pickup, but what do you mean by "twang" on single coils? ahh...dun care la!!

The Catalinbread supercharged OD sounds shiok from the net...gotta try them out man... i think i can just about afford it after CNY...if not it'll be the SD-1 or some other pedal i can find at wakemeup.

Today was a very bad drumming day... nothing came out right... when a good drummer has a bad day..he sounds okay...when an okay drummer has a bad day...he sounds semi-decent...when a semi-decent drummer has a bad day...he sounds like shit... and yea... i sounded like shit today...

Time really is a weird thing... assuming i get a pedal after CNY...tt'll means i got my guitar in November, got my amp in December and my pedal in February.... but it feels like ages ago since i last bought any gear!!!! but at least i can justify to myself for buying this pedal so soon... at least i have a distortion pedal to use during jams so i don't have to borrow other pple's one!!

I gonna make my own stack cymbal! gonna get ian's lousy pok kai hats and adam's trash... this will be after i buy my first pedal..so i gotta get cymbal stands too!

school's opening tomorrow... last segment of year 1 of poly life begins tml...

i guess we gotta start preparing or at least choose songs already... I CAN'T WAIT TO JAM MARS VOLTA!!!!!
