I just hate thinking of titles

went hiking with edwin, louis, boyuan, ryu and zigang at the highest hill ever in singapore....the all great bukit timah.... was quite okay la..haha...just that the chics didn't go which was a shame... no internet or tv till 5 or 6pm tml...wonder how i'm gonna past the time....

i have another song idea in my head... but i fear a radiohead ripoff... well...shall slowly work this idea out and see if its really a radiohead ripoff...

i think i need something out of what i am doing now in my life, to keep my mind occupied... maybe a girl to get involved with...maybe a job to love... maybe an activity which takes a good chunk of my time... or maybe i just need to forgo my humanity and sanity and play the guitar and drums almost every moment i am awake...den maybe when year 2 starts...i can shred on both instruments...bleah!

jy and mel seems to be organizing a cruise...i is so tempted but poor people can't go on holidays...so perish the thought...

some guy selling digitech digidelay for $120 on luthers...that is so damn tempting... but i is no $$ now... damn!!! pedals wishlist at the moment include Delay(digitech, boss dd6 or echo park), Tremelo, Overdrive (ts9 or Route66), Wah, Phase90, Whammy!

edit: had fun with audacity...recorded the idea already...but timing was a bitch...cause haf some sorta lag or sometimes maybe it becomes faster...i dunno... yea...wanted to add the guitars in also...but too much of a bitch... anyway...adding delay covers for it...so yea...hope i'll wake up tml still liking it...haha!!!!

asian beat grand finals was a brand new experience for me...

firstly...i'll congratulate Youthwreck for getting 3rd... great show out there!!

this competitions was one where all expectations were broken... i shall explain myself...
for the amount of shredders and shredding bands there, like the malaysian ultra malmsteen fans band and the indonesian dream theatre sounding band, the taiwanese pop band won it... though i was not impressed the most by them...but then again..like all bands in this final...they were real tight..

Best guitarist won by the guitarist from the champion....this 1 i totally agree....NO SHREDDING...but his tone was a killer!! tele copy!!! yea...that's why telecasters are the best guitars in the world!!! and his solo with the wah was great!!

Best Drummer was won by the philippino chic drummer...while i would dare to say that this chic wouldn't have won it if she was a guy...but she's a real great drummer... sexes aside...her skills own mine... a busy drummer...and she's quite pleasant to watch when playing... thoroughly impressed by her...haha... so far the best chic drummer i have ever saw...

there were lots of double pedlers in this competition.... shredding on the pedals...so yet again...a non shredder won it...

i finally got to see krueger, the band bani was raving about... must say they are a great club band...real tight...and real respect for the drummer who uses a metronome for every song... but i feel that they are too clean a band...like everything is calculated...lack the live energy and impact thing... maybe thats why they are club musicians....but take nothing away from them...they are great musicians...

moving away from the competition... i saw this uber hot yamaha staff at the event...i think she was the girl who escorted tommy aldrich to give the prizes...a pretty face and a figure to die for...UBER HOT!....den i suddenly found her standing beside me...melt...

dd6 lists for $250...i dun noe when i can get it... hopefully the 4 days of work would get me enough money to buy it...

so now i'm gonna think less about trying to shred and work more on making nice riffs and getting nice tones out of my guitar...

Slow times have arrived...i have roughly 8 weeks of nothingness to pass... other den the 4 days of working, i don't have much to do, other den play guitar, maybe some drums, jam a bit... hopefully can make an O.R.E demo during this time...thats the general plan...

have so many things i want to buy... priorities are a phaser or a delay... delay makes more impact... which may open a whole new world of guitar playing for me...but phaser is cheaper...money is a big factor...well see how it goes...then there's drum stuff...i would love another crash...a real dark maybe 17" -19" crash...den i'll have a moogerfooging bright zildjian platinum...and a moogerfooging dark crash... but drum stuff are not really a good investment for now...i dun play drums in an active gigging or recording band... so its not really good investment until somebody recognizes my drumming talent...a new snare also i want...

jamming with doctor brain's later... i sincerely hope that it would be great fun... and i sincerely hope that we do not become some charity event band all the time...while its good to gig for charity events sometimes... i don't want to only gig with this band for charity events... even an exposure gig would feel better....

well..the immediate agenda would be whether to wake up and watch champions league later...

Concert concludes my first year curriculum in SP. Its the holidays while others are having exams and till year..i'll have pretty much nothing to do...

Lots of things to blog about concert... like the rehearsal yesterday...spent a good 14 hrs over there...including slacking, filming for channel U and the actual rehearsals...

Then there was today where we came to school at 9+ to start a final full rehearsal before the actual one which started ard 3.20.

Being the stage I/C for first half was pretty much fun la...haha...concert time we were already reasonably smooth... So...apart from a few guitar tone problems... it went pretty well...

Before i start talking about my own performances... shall highlight some others performance which i liked..

Zigang's opening act was 1 i quite liked...the mary poppins feel...haha...
Ci Niao, this 1 was pretty funny...Yuan Jie somehow drum under he stole the show from the band...hahaha.... great job there man... Ci Niao was all about Yuan Jie and he got the loudest cheers from the crowd...

My own acts,
High n Dry with Bani... Well...thought i was gonna be really nervous out there...but in the end...i wasnt much...since audience can't really be seen from the stage...

Mayday, this 1 ah...haha...i just anyhow wack only... play wrong notes...anyhow sing...den still do petrucci!!! hahaha!! but fun la... only thing i feel bad was like during tt set i didn't really care about what the others were doing... like doing it all for myself liddat....

Inertiatic, this set was quite best man... love bani's anyhow intro lyrics...dinosaurs monsters all come out... den ending...some how adam was doing the ending but the rest of us weren't following.... den somehow we jam jam jam until it became mars volta ending!! gotta thank adam for that man...shouting out that line to me...and we somehow managed to end together!!! haha!!

Rage Against the Machine, this set also best... i think we were considerably tight and i thought i was kickass...haha..whether i really was is another issue...but just let me feel good about myself for now before i view the video on monday... for encore we played Cowboys...haha...that song also shiok to play la... sorry guys for missing out 1 part of the song...

Finally...i would like to thank Sze and Nat for coming down to watch the concert...love you guys man!!

the cardigans' song "I need some fine wine and you, you need to be nicer" is growing on me... more and more... i liked it when i first heard it...and i like it even more now...amazing stuff man... i think i'm gonna get their older albums... There's just something special about Nina's voice that i like...

I'm still unable to come up with any song yet... i guess maybe i'm still unclear of my own musical direction....i have certain riffs and chord progressions in my head...but i can't seem to make them work out in a song... well...right now i feel like listening to more indie and indie pop bands like Cardigans...

Into the last week of year 1... assignments done..just need to hand them in...couple of tests and a concert to go...

I feel great...i played drums for REMT project...Arep's song called Pillows...i feel proud of myself... haha... by no means perfect take..but hey...i still like what i played...haha....

next week's the last week of year 1... shiokness...DVPT done, Midi done, REMT done...GEMS over...all my assignments are finished....just a concert and a cadence test to prepare for...hahahaha!!! shiokness!!!!

I wrote 3/4 of a song today....if i'm happy with it when i wake up tml...i think i'll continue writing it... whee!!!!!!!

i think i lack confidence when i play drums... maybe thats why i keep getting lost in my head when i'm on the drums jamming wif friends... ok...so i guess i have to find some way to get my confidence back...

I'm still absorbing all the new music i got... 3 radiohead albums, 1 cardigans, and the load of songs adam just gave me today....damn.... i think its gonna take me weeks absorb all these man... but i like having to absorb all these new music than having no new things to listen to..

I hate screwed up lousy assed settings tampered mixers.... so much brain power exhausted to no product in the end...

i'm on the 2nd track on Scab Dates, Mars Volta's live album, it sound great man!!!!

i think i want to approach guitar like Omar and Jonny Greenwood!!!

restructuring the way i write songs... slowing every process down, from the chord progressions or riffs, to the melody, to the lyrics...i'm gonna take my own time to do these stuff... hopefully this method makes me come up with better stuff...

i tried writing more abstract experimental stuff today... idea sounded nice in the head...but once i tried playing it on the guitar... gone... can't get anywhere close to what i had in mind..and after a while...my idea got lost in the brain... so i guess...i'm not at the level to write these type of stuff yet...or its just not me to write them...

I hope to write a good song before the holidays come... so that O.R.E can jam it through the holidays and hopefully can record a jam session or make a demo...

school tml again...and i've gotta re-record or maybe i would redo my midi assignment...cause my original audio files are missing... damn...
